Skate Story - ‘What is the beauty of Skateboarding?’

I am not someone who has ever had the sheer courage or the resilience to become a skateboarder. However, Sam Eng’s Skate Story, from late 2025, seems to speak for something far more universal; frustrations and desires that most of us can relate to, whilst also possibly being the closest I will ever be to the experience and mindset of a skater.

In interviews, Eng states this game’s intentions clear: to answer the question of, “what is the beauty of Skateboarding?”. And this intention is clear in every element of the game’s design. The fragility and precision of the skating itself, the surreal visual composition, and complex social dynamics of the game’s urban underworld setting.
